| "Enamored of antique glass beads, I have studied glass bead-making sites throughout the world, the techniques used in making the beads and the historical color vogues. From this beginning and while in Alaska, I studied torch/glass blowing with a student of the famous United States glass lamp worker, John Burton, becoming part of the veritable lineage of lamp workers directly influenced by or trained by Mr. Burton. Relocating in 1987 to Sacramento, California, I continued my jewelry work and began including glass pieces in my designs which I had made in my studio. My choice of materials is very diverse and layering is my favorite technique to achieve the depth and dimensional qualities reflected in my work. Relying exclusively on a self-taught approach to glass and with attention to detail, I have expanded my efforts to artistic functionality of objects found in every day life. I love sharing my love of glass with everyone and hope you'll find my efforts worthy!" |
